The Four Constellation Companions
All four join you at the Lodge in New Atlantis as the main quest progresses, and all four are romanceable.

Sarah Morgan
Constellation’s leader. She starts off stern but opens up as you get to know her. Her Astrodynamics 4 extends your grav jump range when she is on your crew.
Sam Coe
A former Freestar Ranger who travels with his daughter Cora. Bringing Cora up positively in conversation tends to raise his opinion of you. His Piloting 4 makes him one of the best ship crew picks.
Andreja
A guarded former member of House Va’ruun and a fan-favourite romance. With high enough affinity she opens up about her past and gives you gifts.
Barrett
Constellation’s upbeat engineer, who has suffered a great loss by the time you meet him on Vectera. His Starship Engineering 4 is excellent for any ship build, and his Robotics helps against the robotic Terran Armada.

- Explorer: Sarah Morgan, for the grav jump range.
- Stealth: Andreja.
- Rifle combat: Sam Coe.
- Ship combat: Barrett on board, plus crew like Omari Hassan for shields and Gideon Aker for weapons.
- Outposts: Heller, Lin and Andromeda Kepler assigned to your outposts.
Affinity and Romance
- Companions react to your choices and build affinity over time. High affinity unlocks more conversations and each companion’s personal quest.
- At high enough affinity you can start a romance with any of the four Constellation companions, and eventually commit to them.
- Sleeping while your romantic partner is nearby gives the Emotional Security buff, worth +15% XP. See our XP guide.
- The Leadership skill (Social) speeds up affinity gain by 25% at Rank 1 and makes companions tougher at higher ranks.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many companions can I have?
One companion follows you at a time, but you can assign several crew to your ship (up to its crew capacity) and to your outposts, where their skills give passive bonuses.
Can companions die in Starfield?
Yes. During the main quest mission High Price to Pay, a Constellation companion can be put in danger, and your choices decide who you are able to protect.
Who is the best companion?
For most players, Sarah Morgan or Sam Coe, thanks to their useful ship skills. Andreja is the top pick for stealth builds.
