Starfield Trainer 2026: Are Trainers Safe? Built-In Alternatives
Thinking of a Starfield trainer? What trainers do, the risks, achievements and updates, plus built-in console commands and mods that do the same job.
Last updated: October 2026 · Patch 1.16.244
A Starfield trainer is a third-party PC program that changes the game while it runs: infinite health, unlimited credits, no carry weight and so on. Before you download one, it is worth knowing the risks and the free built-in alternatives that do most of the same things.
Are Starfield Trainers Safe?
- Malware risk: trainers are executables from third parties. Only use well-known sources, and never disable your antivirus for a file you do not trust.
- Updates break them: after a game patch (the current one is 1.16.244), trainers often stop working or crash the game until updated.
- Achievements: cheating tools can disable or invalidate achievements. Keep a separate save.
- PC only: trainers do not exist for Xbox or PS5.
Built-In Alternative: Console Commands
On PC, the console (press ~) covers most trainer features for free, with no downloads:
| Trainer feature | Console command |
|---|---|
| God mode | tgm |
| Noclip / fly | tcl (guide) |
| Add credits | player.additem f 10000 |
| Add resources | player.additem <ID> <qty> (ID list) |
| Free camera | tfc |
See every command in our console commands guide.
Console-Friendly Alternative: Mods and Creations
On Xbox and PS5, official Creations can change carry weight, difficulty and more. Our best mods guide lists the best ones and which keep achievements on.

How to Check a Trainer Before You Run It
- Download only from the developer’s official site, never from a re-upload or a video description link.
- Scan the file with your antivirus, and check it on VirusTotal before running it.
- Make sure it lists your exact game version (patch 1.16.244) and your store version (Steam or PC Game Pass).
- Skip anything that asks for your account password, a browser extension, or for your antivirus to be turned off.
Back Up Your Saves First
Trainers can corrupt saves, especially right after a patch. On Steam, copy the folder Documents\My Games\Starfield\Saves somewhere safe before you start. On PC Game Pass, make a fresh manual save you never overwrite while cheating.
Xbox and PS5: What You Can Do Instead
There are no trainers or console commands on Xbox or PS5. Your options are:
- Use the difficulty settings in Gameplay Options to make combat and survival easier.
- Use the in-game Creations menu for mods. Some disable achievements, and the menu shows which ones.
- Farm legitimately with our credits farming and XP farming guides.
Trainer vs Console vs Mods
| Option | Platforms | Cost | Risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trainer | PC | Often paid | Malware and save corruption; breaks after patches |
| Console commands | PC | Free | Disables achievements on that save |
| Creations / mods | PC, Xbox, PS5 | Free or paid | Some disable achievements |
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a Starfield trainer for Xbox or PS5?
No. Trainers are PC-only. On console, use Creations (mods) instead.
Do trainers disable achievements?
Cheating tools and console commands can disable achievements. Use a separate save.
What is the credits console command?
player.additem f 10000 adds 10,000 credits. Change the number for more.
Can you get banned for using a Starfield trainer?
Starfield is single-player, so there is no online ban system. The real risks are malware, broken saves and lost achievements.
Do trainers work with the latest Starfield patch?
Only after the trainer developer updates it. Check that the trainer lists patch 1.16.244 before you run it, or wait a few days after an update.
